A great essay. A wise, serene, and open minded attitude is what’s needed—I want to say ‘at this moment’, but, really, is there ever a time when this would be a wrong approach?

Always glad to hear folks inspired by the Jesuit mission! Always more to it. I hope your child is starting at BC or Holy Cross this coming fall!

My middle granddaughter is a campus guide at the university where she attends school. She leads curious parents and hopeful future students around the grounds explaining campus life. She loves the work and feels like she found her calling. A few months ago the whole family gathered in her college town and she took us all through the tour. What fun to see my slightly goofy granddaughter with enthusiasm in her eyes and joy in her heart. It is uplifting in these times to see hope in the future.

I resonated exactly with your experiences and current views on Catholicism. I also responded the same as you to the election and didn't have college tours to give me a perspective. So this was helpful. Still not ready yet, but you might've gotten me with Service. I had already signed up for Tangle just the week before. I still can't imagine I'll ever understand.

Wonderful essay, Liz, and a great guide for moving forward in these tough times. Coming together in our communities, to listen, to serve, may be the best path right now.
