In 2019, I happened to be in Amsterdam during Pride Week. I also happened to be there during a “historic heat wave”. I use quotes because I think heat waves are the new normal, unfortunately. Anyway, my third floor flat had no AC and no fans. I opened the windows hoping for a breeze. Pride Week revelers sang, shouted, laughed, and otherwise caroused their way along the canals late into the night. Not great for sleeping but a happy memory nonetheless.
Oh wow, Nancy! I love that story. And yes "historic heat weaves" are the new normal. Our waitress in Ottawa last night said Wednesday (Canada Day) is going to be 45 degrees. And I was like Oh my goodness, that's so cold. Luckily, I just said that in my head because she met Celsius!
I would have thought the same thing, i.e., 45 degrees! : ) High of 97 and a heat advisory in effect today here in Florida. Perfect time to be inside, writing. Re: AA language. I can only really speak to Al-Anon language. I also found some of the older materials cringy when I first read them. I'm glad the program language is updating to reflect the times.

Well, I wouldn't say they are rushing to update the language of the Big Book. But they are thinking about it!
